KANNUR: During a police raid aimed at apprehending an accused in the KAPPA case, a woman was arrested for possessing deadly narcotics and weapons. The arrest took place during a search at a rented quarters, where the police found MDMA, a sword, and a nunchaku. The accused is C Seenath (48), a native of Thayyil and currently residing in Manalil.
The raid was conducted based on a tip-off received by Town Circle Inspector Sreejith Kodery. According to the tip-off, Pattarath Raheem, an absconding accused in the KAPPA case, and his accomplices were staying at a rented house in Manalil, where a man named Shahad lives. When the police arrived at the quarters, they noticed Seenath, Shahad's mother, behaving suspiciously and questioned her. She was found to be hiding 1.40 grams of MDMA. Further inspection of the house led to the discovery of a sword and a nunchaku hidden under a bed in one of the rooms.
Meanwhile, Shahid Afnas (25), Seenath's son-in-law, arrived on a scooter and tried to flee upon seeing the police. He was caught and found to be in possession of 3.45 grams of cannabis. Police suspect both accused have links to a wider drug network operating in the city. The arrest operation included Town Sub-Inspectors V.V. Deepthi and Anuroop, officers Afsir, Akhil Vineeth, Mini, Soumya, and members of the DANSAF team—Sujith, Praveesh, Cecil, and Mahesh.
