
KOZHIKODE: Shimjitha Musthafa, the accused in the death case of Deepak, who committed suicide after she shared a video on social media accusing him of sexually harassing her on a bus, has been arrested. She was arrested from her relative’s house in Vadakara by the Kozhikode Medical College Police. All steps are being taken to bring her to the station. She will be brought to the station after subjecting her to a medical examination at the Koyilandy Taluk Hospital.
She was arrested after a lookout notice was issued for her. The police had registered a case against the woman on the complaint of his mother of Govindapuram, Kolangarakandi, Ullatthodi. Abetment of suicide was imposed on her. The police issued a lookout notice after receiving information that Shimjitha would leave the country. The charges imposed on her carries a maximum sentence of ten years in prison and a fine. Meantime, it is also reported that Shimjitha has filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Kozhikode District Court. Her anticipatory bail plea is likely to be considered tomorrow.
Deepak committed suicide after Shimjitha posted a video on Instagram accusing him of sexually harassing her on a private bus in Payyannur. The police had collected the CCTV footage of the private bus where the incident happened. The footage of Deepak and Shimjitha is not clear in it. The police have started trying to recover the full part of the footage posted by her on Instagram. The police suspect editing in it. The woman’s phone will be taken into custody for it. The woman had deleted these footages following strong protests. These scenes will be crucial in the case.
