SI hit by car during traffic duty; two youths arrested

KANNUR: A Sub-Inspector (SI) was injured after a car rammed into him during traffic duty last night in Kannur. The injured officer has been identified as T M Vipin of Valapattanam. Police arrested two youths involved in the incident: Fayis from Madayi, Kannur, and Niyas from Matool.

The incident occurred near the Valapattanam Bridge, where police were trying to stop the car being driven recklessly by the accused. Instead of stopping, the vehicle hit the SI, mounting him on the car’s bonnet. The car then hit an auto-rickshaw and a wall before coming to a halt. Police soon found out that the youth driving the car did not have a valid license. The arrested individuals were presented in court and remanded.
