KOZHIKODE: The burial of Muhammad Shahbaz, who died after suffering a head injury during a brawl between students in Thamarassery, has been completed. The funeral rites were held at Chungam Juma Masjid. Hundreds of people, including relatives, friends, and locals, gathered when his body was kept for public viewing at Kedavoor Madrasa. As soon as Shahbaz's body arrived, his friends broke down in tears. The grieving friends had to be forcibly moved away from the body.

Muhammad Shahbaz, a native of Chungam, was a student at M.J. Higher Secondary School in Vattoli. He was assaulted by a group of students from Thamarassery School on Thursday evening following a conflict at a tuition center. Later that night, Shahbaz experienced vomiting and other health complications, after which he was first taken to Thamarassery Taluk Hospital and later shifted to the Medical College. He was undergoing treatment in the ICU but succumbed to his injuries at around 1 AM today.
