KOZHIKODE: A thief, who pushed a 64-year-old woman off a moving train and fled with her bag, has been nabbed. He was held from Mumbai. He was caught on the third day of the incident. The police said that the suspect is being questioned in detail. After the robbery, he boarded another train and reached Mumbai.

He fled with the bag of Ammini, who was returning after attending a funeral at her brother's house in Mumbai. Ammini also suffered a head injury after falling on the ground. Reports said that there was cash of Rs 8500 in her bag.

Ammini was sitting in a seat next to the door in S-1 coach. Her brother Varghese was also with her. When the train stopped at Kozhikode, Varghese went to the bathroom. In the meantime, as the train started moving, the assailant tried to snatch her bag and when she resisted, he pushed her off the train, jumped down after grabbing her bag and ran away. Although there were passengers in the coach, none of them were aware of the incident as they were sleeping.

Varghese, who came out hearing the noise, stopped the train by pulling the chain with the help of the TTE. Varghese got out and ran along the route the train had come from. Some other passengers joined him. Ammini, who was lying bleeding a short distance away, was taken back on the train and continued journey. They then got off at Tirur station and took her to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. Relatives later took them to Thrissur.
