KOLLAM: More information surfaced in the suicide of a youth after killing a college student in Uliyakovil. Thejus, who committed suicide after killing Febin George Gomez was mentally disturbed for quite some time, said Johnson, his neighbour. Thejus was mentally shattered after Febin’s sister Flory ended from the relationship. He said the two became close while studying for BTech.

‘Thejus met the girl while studying in college. Both families agreed to the relationship. The girl backed out when she got a job. This mentally shook Thejus. He was subjected to counselling. Thejus wanted to become a police officer like his father. He had written the exam and passed but failed in the physical test,' said Johnson.

Thejus killed Febin (21) of 162 Flory Dale, Vilappuram Mathruka Nagar, Uliyakovil, brother of Flory. Thejus Raju (22) of Neendakara Puthenthura Thekkedath House committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. Febin was a second-year BCom student at Fathima Mata College in Kollam. Thejus Raju is the son of Grade SI Raju of Kollam DCRB.

Police said the murder was committed in a fit of rage for ending the relationship. The incident happened last evening at 6.45 pm. Thejus, who came near Febin’s house in a white Wagon R car, waited there for a while and then returned. He came again at around 6.45 pm at Febin’s house wearing a purdah and then rang the bell. The two engaged in a fight when Febin opened the door. He then poured the petrol he was carrying into the room. He then stabbed Febin twice on his chest with a knife.
