KOCHI: Customs nabs man who tried to smuggle gold through Nedumbassery airport. Akbar, a native of Changaramkulam, Malappuram, was caught by the Customs Air Intelligence Unit with 640 grams of gold. He tried to smuggle gold by smearing it on his underwear.
The customs officials became suspicious when they saw Akbar continuously pulling up his pants while walking. When he was subjected to a detailed body examination, it was found that he was wearing three underwear. One of these was inlaid with gold. The seized gold is worth around Rs 34 lakh in the market.
