Took daughter to Po24-May-2025nmudi and sexually assaulted her; man booked under POCSO Act

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A man has been booked under the POCSO Act in Ayiroor, Varkala, following allegations of sexual abuse against his eighth-grade daughter. The complaint was filed by the child’s mother, and the accused, 36, has been taken into police custody.

The incident is said to have taken place on May 21. As per the girl's account, her father lured her to Ponmudi on the pretext of sightseeing and then assaulted her in a remote, wooded location.

This is the second time similar allegations have been made against the father. In 2019, Ayiroor Police had registered a similar case, but he was not convicted due to a lack of evidence. The latest incident came to light after the girl confided in her mother. Police are continuing the investigation.
