Used to get Rs 1000 for throwing ‘bundle’ into central jail, reveals accused

KANNUR: An accused caught from jail revealed that will get a reward if thrown things including narcotics and mobile phones into the central jail. Akshay of Panangavu, who tried to throw a mobile phone to the prisoners the other day, told police about it.


He said they will throw the bundle after getting a signal from inside the wall. Akshay told police that if thrown a bundle of things inside, will get Rs 1000. Akshay was taken into custody the other day for trespassing into the jail compound and trying to throw a mobile phone over the wall. Two who were with him had escaped.


The incident happened at around 3 pm on August 24. The officers noticed three trespassing into the jail compound. The officers saw this through CCTV footage. The officers on duty outside the jail were directed to arrest them.


The officers saw throwing banned tobacco products and a mobile phone. Upon seeing the police, the three tried to flee. However, Akshay fell on the ground while running. Akshay's statement was that he had brought the tobacco products and mobile phones for political prisoners in the jail.
