ALAPPUZHA: A man strangled his daughter to death in Mararikulam. Soon after the police arrested him, his wife has also been arrested. The girl’s father Josemon alias Francis was arrested yesterday. The Mannanchery police today arrested the girl’s mother Jesymol. She was arrested for helping in the murder. It is said that when Josemon tightened his daughter Angel Jasmine’s neck with a towel, Jesymol caught her daughter’s hands together. The police have informed that Angel’s uncle Aloysius will also be charged for concealing the murder.

The murder that shocked the place came to light yesterday. Josemon and Jesymol killed their daughter at around 11 pm on Tuesday. The post-mortem report said the woman died after two of her blood vessels in her neck broke. Angel got married three years ago. Angel estranged from her husband, had been living in her own house for the past six months.

Police said there have been constant arguments in the house for her regular night outings alone. Some of the locals had even told Francis about it. Francis had scolded Angel who had gone out on Tuesday night. This led to a verbal argument and a fight. Amidst the argument, Francis strangled her and then he tightened her neck with a towel. Francis' father Xavier, mother Susy and wife Jesymol were at home at the time of the incident.

After she was confirmed dead, the family sat inside the house without informing anyone until morning. The neighbors knew about her demise only on Wednesday morning at 6 am. The family told neighbors that she is not responding to them. She was later taken to the hospital. The doctor who noticed the mark on her neck grew suspicious and informed the police. A police team came last night and locked the house. A team led by Mannancherry Police Inspector Tolson P Joseph questioned the family separately.

Angel, a lab technician at a private hospital in Alappuzha, had been living in her own house for six months after estranged from her husband. The body kept in Alappuzha Medical College Hospital after postmortem will be brought home. The funeral will be held at Omanappuzha St Francis Xavier's Church. Her husband is Prahin.
