KOZHIKODE: A woman has been arrested for slapping a doctor at Kozhikode Medical College after mistaking him for someone who had sent her obscene messages. The arrested woman is a native of Kuruvattoor. The real culprit, Muhammad Noushad from Peringalam, who had been sending the messages using the doctor’s name, was later arrested.

The incident took place yesterday in the surgery OP section while the doctor was on duty. The woman slapped him, accusing him of repeatedly sending obscene messages through WhatsApp and making marriage promises. The Medical College police later launched an investigation based on the doctor's complaint. CCTV footage and OP records helped police identify the woman.

In April, the woman had come to the Medical College for her father's treatment. Noushad was staying in the same ward as a bystander for a friend. He later collected the woman's phone number, bought a new SIM card, and began sending messages on WhatsApp using the doctor's name. He had also swindled Rs 49,000 from the woman. A police team led by Medical College Inspector Baiju K Jose arrested both the woman and Noushad.
