WAYANAD: A young woman stabbed her lover’s mother with a kitchen knife after the latter allegedly opposed their marriage. The 19-year-old woman attacked her lover’s mother on the face with a knife. The injured woman has been identified as Nusrath (45), a native of Pozhuthana and an employee of a garment shop in Kalpetta, Wayanad.

The incident occurred around 2 pm on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Theertha, a native of Vythiri, arrived at the shop where Nusrath works. After entering the shop, she attacked Nusrath with a knife she had brought with her, stabbing her on the face. Preliminary information suggests that the young woman is the lover of Nusrath’s son. It is believed that Nusrath’s opposition to their marriage led to the attack.

The police have taken the accused into custody. Nusrath, who sustained injuries, has been admitted to the Kalpetta General Hospital for treatment. CCTV footage of the young woman stabbing Nusrath on the face has surfaced.
