THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the CPM has not sought the support of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI). He clarified that even in Nemom, V Sivankutty did not demand for such support. Those who want the BJP to lose may have voted accordingly. He also said that there would be no compromise on the stand against communalism. The chief minister also responded to the controversies that arose during yesterday’s press meet in Kollam.

‘Concluded the press meet yesterday as time was running out. Had answered the questions that came before him. I am someone who answers any question. I don’t choose based on who asks the question. I respond to the questions that come to me, not to what is in the minds of the journalists. I cannot answer questions that are only in their minds. Some came yesterday just to create a commotion. This is a new experience. Some are trying to manipulate things. This is unfortunate. During election time, attempts are being made to create chaos,’ he said about the controversy.

The chief minister responded sarcastically to Binoy Viswam, state secretary of CPI, who said that SDPI votes are not needed. The chief minister said that from now on he would give replies only after getting written clarification from him. It was also noted that the chief minister did not mention SDPI even once during the press meet. Binoy Viswam had said that the LDF has no alliance with organizations that spread the poison of extremism, but that they would accept votes from those who stand on the side of humanity.

Responding to allegations raised by Rahul Gandhi, leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, in the Sabarimala gold theft issue, the chief minister said one only needs to check how the one who stole the gold reached their own house. He also clarified that the opposition leader was invited not for a direct debate, but for a debate via Facebook.
The controversy arose after journalists protested publicly, alleging that while leaving the press meet in Kollam the other day, the chief minister answered questions only from certain media. He later returned and answered a few more questions before leaving.
