THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC chief Sunny Joseph said that there is a strong UDF wave in Kerala. While talking to a media, he said the UDF will come to power in the state. He dismissed discussions about the chief ministership.
‘The chief minister will be decided after the election results are announced. Public expressions of opinion are not apt, and such opinions should be discussed in party venues. The high command will take an appropriate decision. Senior leaders should set an example. Internal factional fights must stop. This is not the time for that,’ Sunny Joseph clarified.
Senior Congress leader K Muraleedharan also rejected the public debate among Congress leaders over who should become the chief minister. He said there is no need for such discussions at present. There is no doubt that the UDF will win. The right things will happen at the right time. Raising noise now serves no purpose. What is needed is a group dance, he said, recalling Rahul Gandhi’s call for collective functioning. He added that posting in support of any leader at this stage is inappropriate. There are proper procedures for these matters. The chief minister will be decided after the results are announced and after convening a meet. The high command will give directions in this regard. There is no need to make the public speak unnecessarily,’ said Muraleedharan.
KPCC President K Sudhakaran, praising AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal and indirectly projecting him as the chief ministerial candidate, had sparked controversy. Sudhakaran, in a Facebook post, said that Venugopal’s presence in Kerala politics is crucial, as seen in the last assembly elections. He shared his opinion via a Facebook post. He added that leaders like K C Venugopal are the strength of the party and expressed hope that he would rise as a leader capable of guiding future governance.
