KOCHI: Rape accused Hirandas Murali alias rapper Vedan appeared for interrogation. He reached Thrikkakara police station at 9.30 am. Vedan told media that he cannot talk about the case now and will come after appearing for questioning first. Vedan clarified that he would respond more when he returns and would fully cooperate with the interrogation.
Vedan, who was granted bail by the high court, was directed to appear before the investigating officer, Thrikkakara SHO, today and tomorrow. The high court had stayed Vedan's arrest in the case of raping a female doctor on the pretext of marriage. The Ernakulam Central Police had also registered a case against Vedan on another complaint filed by a music researcher. Vedan's bail plea in this regard is under the consideration of the court.
The high court granted anticipatory bail to Vedan with conditions, prima facie finding that it was a consensual sexual relationship. He has to appear for questioning at the Thrikkakara police station on September 9 and 10 from 10 am to 5 pm. If arrested, he has to be released on his own bond of Rs 1 lakh and two sureties of the same amount. The bail conditions were that he should not leave India without the permission of the court.
