THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K K Rema alleged that the martyrs' fund scam is not a new incident in the CPM and that it has been going on for ages. The party had collected more than Rs 25 crore in the name of helping the martyrs' families during 2005-06. Rema added that this was collected at that time as a fund for 'upcoming martyrs' but the figures for this were not available anywhere later. She was speaking at the press meet convened in Thiruvananthapuram.

V Kunhikrishnan, who worked for the party for 50 years, revealed the truth to the public when he lost his fight within the party. Since it was money collected from the public, the society has the right to know the account. Attacks on the houses of Kunhikrishnan's supporters and burning of vehicles in party villages like Payyannur can only take place with the party's knowledge. Rema pointed that this is a situation similar to what they faced in Onchiyam. In the context of the party taking disciplinary action, Rema also said, ‘Let no Innova come against Kunhikrishnan.’
