KOCHI: AICC general secretary K C Venugopal said that when members of his own party are in jail in the gold theft case, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is trying to pin the blame on others. If the chief minister thinks that throwing mud on others will remove the mud from his own body, I pity him, said Venugopal while talking to the media in Kochi.

'When the chief minister is trying to save the real accused in the gold theft case, he should realize that his own situation is deteriorating and is in deep trouble. If the chief minister does not understand this, I can only say that it is a pity. Let the SIT question Adoor Prakash. We have been saying from the beginning that the special investigation team has the right to question anyone in this case.

They can question anyone any time they want. The public now know very well who stole the gold from Sabarimala. The people know the work I did when I was the Devaswom Minister in 2004. I am not afraid of the SIT taking the investigation to any time other than 2004. None of the UDF leaders will go to jail in connection with this case. Let the investigation take place,’ Venugopal clarified.
