THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The opposition issued notice for an adjournment motion related to backdoor appointments. The notice was issued by P C Vishnunath. The opposition alleged that the employment exchange and PSC are being made a scarecrow and closed ones are being appointed. Minister M B Rajesh replied that the illegal appointment is an organized fake campaign.
He told the house that this kind of propaganda has been going on since the time of the first Pinarayi government and all such allegations are false. He also responded on the letter controversy in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. The minister added that the letter circulating in the name of Mayor Arya Rajendran is fake and the mayor has filed a complaint in this regard and if there are any illegal appointments, they will be brought to light through an investigation.
1.99 lakh appointments were made in six and a half years. This is 18,000 more than the UDF. The minister clarified that the temporary appointments are made as per the norms and the government does not interfere in it. M B Rajesh also read the letter sent by the MLAs during the UDF rule in the House. He said there are letters for a bigger book than letters sent by a father to his daughter.
Meantime, opposition leader V D Satheesan said vacancies are not being reported to the PSC. He added that around three lakh backdoor appointments were made in the state. The assembly was adjourned for today following opposition protests.
