ERATTUPETTA: A complaint has been filed alleging that a ten-year-old student was brutally beaten by a teacher for asking a doubt inside the examination hall. The child has suffered a fracture to his shoulder and has been admitted to a hospital. The victim is Mishab Shakeer, a Class 5 student of MMMUM UP School, Karakkad, Erattupetta, and the son of Nadakkal native Sakeer and Shakeela.

Following the incident, Santhosh, a Social Science teacher from Mutholi, Pala, has been suspended. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. The incident took place on Thursday afternoon. According to the child, the teacher became angry when he asked a doubt and assaulted him by hitting his shoulder and pinching him.

The parents said their son returned home from school in a very weak condition. Though he usually goes to school by bicycle, he returned home that evening by pushing the bicycle. When the parents asked what had happened, the child told them about the assault.

Following this, the parents tried calling the teacher, but he did not answer. They then informed the school manager about the matter. Later, the teacher called back and admitted his mistake, saying he did not expect the situation to become so serious. School manager Ashraf Karakkad said that a preliminary inquiry confirmed that the teacher had assaulted the student.
