11-year-old girl collapses and dies during karate practise

KOLLAM: An 11-year-old girl collapsed and died during karate training in Anchal, Kollam. The deceased has been identified as Ahanna, the daughter of Valakom Thekke Ambalakkara natives Binoy and Simi. The incident occurred around noon at a karate training centre in Anchal. Ahanna had arrived at the institution to take part in the special training session ahead of her black belt test in Karate. Usually, she trained at a centre near her home in Valakom, but had come to the main centre in Anchal for the upcoming examination.

At around 2 pm, during training, the child complained of severe stomach pain and vomiting. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but her life could not be saved. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined. The police have registered a case of unnatural death. Statements have been recorded from officials of the training centre. Police said the cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report is received.
