PATHANAMTHITTA: The superintendent of Konni Medical College Hospital has come up with a bizarre explanation in the case where a 14-year-old boy’s hand became bent after treatment. Superintendent Dr Shaji said that the child's hand might have healed on its own even if he had not undergone treatment. He also stated that people will have to wait for issues like the shortage of doctors to be resolved, and that the hospital still has many limitations that need time to be fixed.

The right hand of 14-year-old Thanseer became deformed after two and a half months of treatment in the hospital’s Orthopedics department. The child's family is preparing to take legal action against the Health Department, citing medical negligence. They say that although complaints were submitted to the Chief Minister and the Health Minister, no action has been taken so far, and the police have also not responded.

The bent hand was later corrected after treatment at a private hospital in Konni itself. The incident sparked strong protests. Congress leaders, including the Pathanamthitta DCC president, marched to Konni Medical College Hospital demanding action over the alleged medical negligence and also staged a protest against the hospital superintendent.
