
KOCHI: The Men's Association approached the High Court to seek justice for Kozhikode Govindapuram native Deepak, who committed suicide in humiliation after a woman accused him of sexual misconduct inside a crowded bus. The video filmed by a woman alleging inappropriate touch from Deepak inside the bus also went viral across social media. The Men's Association want justice for Deepak and demanded a CBI or Crime Branch investigation in the case.
The petition also states that the police are trying to protect Shimjita Mustafa, who filmed the video and is suspected of having fled abroad. Men’s Association demanded that a lookout notice be issued against her. Since the video was edited, the association demanded that her phone be seized and inspected. The petition also states that false propaganda was wielded against Deepak in the case.
After visiting the house, Rahul Easwar, a representative of the Men's Association, said that Rs 3.17 lakh has been handed over to Deepak's family. The association decided to set up a 24-hour phone system to help men who go through similar ordeals like Deepak. Shimjita went into hiding after a case was filed against her for abetting suicide.
The police also found that the video shared by the woman on social media was edited and shortened. The help of the cyber cell will be sought to recover the full version of the video. For this, the police are trying to find the woman's phone. Meanwhile, police sources indicate that Shimjita has crossed over to Mangaluru. There are also reports that the woman has already started work to secure anticipatory bail in the case.
