37-year-old woman's death following seventh delivery; Husband arrested in Thrissur

THRISSUR: Police arrest a man in Edakkazhiyoor in connection with his wife’s death during childbirth at home in Thrissur. Ibrahim (43) was arrested by Chavakkad SHO N.S. Rajeev.

The accused has been remanded. A case of culpable homicide was registered against him. The house of the accused had been sealed by the police earlier. The woman fell ill two months ago after giving birth to her seventh child at her house. The child died just six days later. Muhasina (37) died on Thursday.

It is said that the woman had a fatal wound in her internal organs. The woman had been suffering for months due to an infection that developed after giving birth. She could not even turn over because of a large abscess on her body. They were following the acupuncture method. After the intervention of relatives, she was admitted to a private hospital in Thrissur and later to Thrissur Medical College Hospital. The woman, who had given birth six times, had already lost two children.

Public activist Puthuponnani Palakkal Hamsath Muhammed approached the police, alleging that she had not received adequate treatment.
