THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George said that 499 individuals have been identified as part of the Nipah virus contact list in the state. Of these, 203 are from Malappuram district, 116 from Kozhikode, 178 from Palakkad, and 2 from Ernakulam. In Malappuram, 11 people are currently under treatment, with 2 of them in the ICU. So far, 56 samples from Malappuram have tested negative. In Palakkad, three people are undergoing treatment in isolation. Across the state, 29 individuals are being closely monitored as "highest risk" contacts, while 117 others are categorised as "high risk."
The confirmed Nipah patient is being treated in the ICU in Kozhikode. The meeting, chaired by the Health Minister, was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, the NHM State Mission Director, the Director of the Health Department, the Director of Medical Education, Additional Directors, District Collectors, District Medical Officers, police officials, and officers from various departments.
