PATHANAMTHITTA: A youth abducted 17-year-old daughter of the village chief from West Bengal and locked her up in his room for a week. The incident came to light following a complaint received by Alappuzha Crime Branch. But even though the Child Welfare Committee has directed the Pathanamthitta DYSP to arrest the youth in the POCSO case for abducting a minor girl, the police is not yet ready to file a case. The police did not respond to this matter.
The girl was freed from the residence of Bimal Nag Bansi (22), a native of West Bengal, an employee of an iron shop in Omalloor. According to the police, they were in a relationship and left Bengal on July 22. He joined the shop for work five days ago.
A missing complaint was filed by an Shaktivahan, an organisation in Bengal. As a result, after tracing their phone location, it was found that the girl and the youth are in Alappuzha.
The Child Protection Commission gave directions to find the girl. A police team from Alappuzha found the girl and released her on Friday night. The girl, who is in the shelter home of the Child Welfare Committee, will be handed over to her parents today.
