
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The FIR filed in the second rape case against Rahul Mamkootathil MLA is out. The report says Rahul established a relationship with the complainant in 2023. A case was registered against Rahul at the crime branch headquarters yesterday. The name of the complainant is not mentioned in the FIR. The FIR mentioned that the complaint was received by KPCC President Sunny Joseph via email.
The FIR was registered by the investigating officer DySP Sajeevan. Rahul collected the name and details of the woman via social media. Later they became friends. After a decision was taken to conduct the engagement, Rahul took the woman to an empty place with the help of his friend and brutally raped her. The FIR mentions brutal injuries on her body. Statements including where she was abused needs to be collected from her.
Meantime, the verdict on Rahul's anticipatory bail plea in the first rape complaint will be delivered today. The Thiruvananthapuram District Principal Sessions Court will pronounce the verdict. The court has not stayed Rahul's arrest. The hearing was held in a closed room yesterday as per Rahul's request. The arguments presented by the plaintiff and the defendants, including digital evidence, lasted for more than one and a half hours. The prosecution opposed the anticipatory bail plea.
The prosecution argued that there was strong evidence for the rape. After coercing her to get pregnant, her forced her for an abortion. District government pleader advocate Geena Kumari, who appeared for the prosecution, produced the chats proving this.
