Action against Rahul Mamkootathil; decision taken collectively, says KPCC, rejects A Group’s criticism

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KPCC leadership has rejected the criticism raised by 'A' Group on the action taken against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil. The leadership has informed that the action against Rahul was taken unanimously. ‘A' Group had alleged that there is a lapse from the side of the leadership in taking action against Rahul. The leadership's explanation is in response to this. A section of the KPCC leadership alleged that those who took a stand against taking action then are now raising objections and that this is part of factionalism.

Meantime, the crime branch team is likely to inform Speaker A N Shamseer about the case against Rahul. The assembly session is scheduled to be held next week. The crime branch's move is amidst this. A case has been registered against Rahul for stalking and harassing women through social media. The DGP received ten complaints via email. Based on this, the crime branch has appointed a special team led by DySP to investigate.

The investigation team has started recording the statements of those who filed complaints against Rahul. The statement of the complainant, Advocate Shinto, has been recorded. Shinto filed the complaint based on media reports. However, in such cases, the case will only remain if the victim files a complaint. The investigation team will verify the authenticity of the audio recordings that emerged. The owners of these voices will be identified and their statements will be recorded. It is assessed that the investigation team can move forward only if they file a complaint directly.
