Actor Jayasurya denies allegations, calls himself a ‘living martyr’ of false accusations

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor Jayasurya has denied the molestation allegations leveled against him, stating that he is a victim of false accusations. He made these remarks while addressing the media after appearing for questioning at the Cantonment Police Station in connection with the case.

Jayasurya was questioned at 11:30 AM and was released without an arrest being recorded. The actor had been summoned following a complaint from an actress, originally from Aluva, who accused him of insulting her during a movie shoot at the Secretariat in 2018. Although he was asked to appear at 11 AM, Jayasurya arrived at the station by 8:15 AM.

"There was no major shooting at the Secretariat—just a two-hour song sequence," Jayasurya said. "She didn't have a significant role in it. I don’t understand why these allegations are being made. False accusations like this can happen to anyone tomorrow. While I have the opportunity to defend myself, what about an ordinary person? Their family and reputation would be destroyed. I feel like a living martyr in this case. It’s a situation where even anticipatory bail isn't necessary because the police know the truth about the person making these claims."

The actor further added that he had seen the complainant but denied any personal connection with her. "There was no friendship. In 2018 and 2019, she praised me as a big supporter," he said.

Jayasurya also addressed a similar case in Ernakulam, related to a movie shoot from 2013, calling the allegations in that instance equally baseless. "That movie wasn’t even filmed in 2013," he clarified. The actor declined to respond to further questions from the media.
