KOCHI: Bobby Chemmanur, the owner of Chemmanur International Jewelery, was arrested on the complaint of actress Honey Rose on Wednesday. The actress complained that she endured mental trauma from the sexually vile remarks made by Bobby Chemmanur.
But what turned crucial was her phone call with CM Pinarayi Vijayan addressing the issue at 6 pm Tuesday, which led to Bobby’s immediate arrest. Honey Rose also met ADGP Manoj Abraham and Kochi City Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya before filing the complaint.
Kochi City Deputy Commissioner Ashwati GG led the special investigation team formed by Ernakulam Central Assistant Commissioner K Jayakumar. At 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, SI Anoop Chacko, ASI Shaji, and CPO Shihab headed to Wayanad where Wayanad SP and his team were expecting their arrival. Bobby was supposed to go to the jewellery inauguration in Coimbatore.
On Sunday, Honey Rose accused Bobby of using double entendre and insulting her implicitly. The actress coming forward with a complaint also triggered a massive cyber-attack on her. On Monday, Honey reached the Ernakulam Central Station along with comments and screenshots and officially lodged a complaint. A case was registered against 30 people while a 60-year-old native of Kumbalangi was arrested.
Bobby Chemmanur was taken into custody on Wednesday morning from a road near BoCHe 1000 Acre Resort. The police team ambushed Bobby’s car and took him into custody. When police explained the case and the need for custody, Bobby acquiesced and said he would cooperate. He was then brought to AR camp in a KL 07 DA 9983 car.
Bobby was taken to Ernakulam Central Station and arrested at 7:20 p.m. In his first confession, Bobby denied all charges. Throughout the night, the businessman will have to spend inside the cell. Lawyers from Raman Pillai Associates arrived and spoke to Bobby. He will be produced at court today.
