THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that there is a possibility of extremely heavy rain in Kerala from today to Sunday. This is because a severe low-pressure area is located over southeastern Uttar Pradesh. There is a possibility of strong winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph in isolated places.
Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod are on red alert today. There is a red alert in Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod tomorrow and in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on Saturday. The possibility of extremely heavy rain is predicted. More than 204.4 mm of rain may fall in 24 hours.
There is an orange alert in Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram today. Idukki, Malappuram and Kozhikode on orange alert tomorrow, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram on Saturday and Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Palakkad on Sunday. Very heavy rain is expected at isolated places. Rainfall of 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm is likely in 24 hours.
Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki are on yellow alert today and tomorrow Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad.
