THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amid the rising number of Covid cases in Kerala, the health department has intensified preventive measures. The department has issued special guidelines to prevent an increase in Covid cases. The guidelines say that those seeking treatment with fever should be tested for Covid and masks are mandatory for those likely to develop serious illness. Those who reach the hospital with symptoms should undergo antigen testing. If the result is negative, RTPCR testing should be done. Covid patients should be kept in a special ward in hospitals, said the health department.
Meanwhile, the number of Covid cases in the country rose to 4026. 65 more cases were reported in the last 24 hours. Four Covid deaths have been confirmed. 19 recovered in Kerala. There are 1416 active cases in Kerala. One death has also been reported in Kerala. An 80-year-old man suffering from severe pneumonia has died. Presently 35 percent of the country's Covid cases are in Kerala.
Meantime, Minister Veena George had said the other day that the number is increasing because Kerala is reporting Covid figures accurately. The minister clarified that there is presently no need to worry in the state and that although the potential for spread is high, the severity of the disease is low. The minister said that those with other diseases should wear masks in public places and avoid unnecessary hospital visits.
