KOCHI: Police have obtained information about the sender of the anonymous letter regarding an alleged leak of the verdict in the 2017 actress abduction and sexual assault case. The letter, which accurately predicted the verdict a week before it was pronounced, was sent by a man via Speed Post from a post office in Ernakulam Pallimukku. It was a masked man who sent the anonymous letter after 3 pm on December 3. He posted 33 letters by speed post. The police have reportedly received his prime information. Whether there was any malicious intent behind the letter is under investigation.

The CCTV footage obtained by the intelligence department shows him leaving the post office before the proceedings were completed. Many of the letters had the name 'Ramkumar' as the from address. The letter stated that he was an Indian citizen.

The matter came to light and the police began an undercover investigation after High Court Advocates Association President Yashwant Shenoy handed over the anonymous letter he received to the High Court Chief Justice. Shenoy received the letter on December 6. The letter stated that the first six accused would be pronounced guilty and that the seventh accused, Charlie Thomas, and the other accused, including the eighth accused, Dileep, would be acquitted. There has been a demand for a proper investigation into the circulation of the anonymous letter. The police have not received a complaint. The High Court may also conduct an investigation.
