Another case of medical negligence: Two-and-half-year-old girl dies after receiving injection, family files complaint

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Another case of alleged medical negligence has been reported in the state, with a complaint claiming that a two-and-a-half-year-old child died due to a lapse in treatment by hospital staff. The allegation has been raised against Mamal Hospital in Kattakkada, Thiruvananthapuram.

According to the family, the child was first taken to the hospital after experiencing breathing difficulties. After being given steam inhalation, the child was administered two injections. The relatives alleged that the child’s condition worsened soon after the injections.

The child was then immediately shifted by ambulance to Neyyar Medcity, where doctors confirmed the death. The body has been kept in the mortuary at Neyyar Medcity. The exact cause of death will be determined only after the post-mortem examination.

Based on the complaint filed by the relatives, Aryanad Police have registered a case and begun an investigation.
