THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Satheesh Shankar, husband of Kollam native Athulya, who was found hanging in Sharjah, has been granted an interim bail. He reached home after the Kollam Sessions Court granted him anticipatory bail last Friday. Satheesh was granted interim bail on two sureties of Rs 2 lakh. Satheesh' lawyer Muneer Shamsuddin told media that handing over an accused to the police is a normal procedure. The Valiyathura police have informed that Satheesh will be released on bail only after the arrival of Pathanamthitta Crime Branch officials.
A murder case has been charged against Satheesh. Satheesh, who arrived from Sharjah at 1.15 am this morning, was detained by the officials of the immigration department and handed over to the police. The investigation is presently by a team led by Karunagappally ASP Anjali Bhavana. Athulya was found hanging in her flat in Sharjah on July 19. The Thekkumbhagam police had registered a murder case against Satheesh on the complaint filed by her family.
Satheesh Sankar was terminated from his job after serious allegations were levelled against him. He was working as a site engineer in a private company in Dubai. The company had informed Satheesh in writing that he had been dismissed from his job.
Satheesh got the job a year ago. Satheesh had earlier said that he was drawing a salary of Rs 2.5 lakh. He was terminated after the company saw his violent videos and also considered the complaints filed by her relatives. A co-worker had revealed to the media that Satheesh had been warned for coming to the office drunk. He also said that he was absent always.
