Attempted to sexually assault woman in chamber; former Family Court Judge suspended 

KOLLAM: A judge has been suspended following allegations that he attempted to sexually assault a woman after summoning her to his chamber. Kollam Chavara Family Court Judge V. Udayakumar was suspended by the High Court Administrative Committee. The woman was at court for a divorce case hearing when the incident took place.

The action comes after three women lodged complaints against the judge. The High Court Administrative Committee had ordered an inquiry into the matter, which was carried out by the High Court Registrar (District Judiciary). Based on the report submitted, the suspension was issued today.

Earlier, following complaints of inappropriate behaviour in his chamber, Udayakumar was transferred to the Kollam Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) on August 20. After the incident, even lawyers had come forward with protests against the judge.
