THRISSUR: Thrissur district secretary VP Sarath Prasad is likely to face disciplinary action following his audio leak that has put CPM in a dock. Sarath will be allowed three days to give an appropriate explanation for the issue. If a satisfactory answer is not provided, disciplinary action will be initiated. Senior CPM leaders are reportedly perturbed over the whole incident.

Titbits from audio leak:

  • Leaders change their financial level after a certain stage. M.K.Kannan, who once sold peanuts around the Swaraj round, now has assets worth crores.
  • A.C.Moideen is in a different league. He deals only with high-ranking elites. Corporation councillors Anoop Davis Cada and Varghese Kandamkulathy are also in this big business league.
  • If an area secretary can earn 10,000 per month, a district committee member can earn 75,000. For a state committee member, it is up to one lakh.

The conversation came to light after the demotion of DYFI district committee member Nibin Sreenivasan from the area committee to the local committee at the last meeting, after Nibin revealed that corruption worth crores was committed in seven cooperative societies under the Mannuthy CPM area committee. The conversation came to light amidst allegations that Sarath was behind Nibin's expulsion.
