Beverages Corporation employee commits suicide over non-payment of salary for nearly nine months

KOZHIKODE: An employee of the Beverages Corporation committed suicide after being in depression for not receiving his salary for nearly nine months. The dead is K Shashi Kumar, a lower-division clerk of an outlet at Ramanath in Kozhikode. He was found hanging from a tree behind his house last evening.

His family alleged that he took the drastic step following the non-payment of salary for nearly nine months. He was suspended in last June for not attending office. He resumed office later but his salary was not released. He also did not get the bonus of Rs one lakh for Onam. When he complained this, the officials said that he would get the full salary the other day. In the meanwhile, another complaint was lodged against him and his salary was blocked again.
