KSEB contract employee electrocuted to death during maintenance work

KANNUR: In a tragic incident, a contract employee of the KSEB died after suffering an electric shock while carrying out maintenance work. The deceased has been identified as Rajan (58), a native of Ponniam Kunduchira near Thalassery. The accident occurred at around 9.30 pm on Tuesday. After noticing a fire on an electric pole near the 110 kV substation at Ponniam Paramkunnu, locals informed the substation authorities. Following this, officials asked Rajesh, an employee from the Thalassery section, to go to the site and fix the issue.

Rajesh took Rajan along as his assistant. During the inspection, Rajan accidentally touched an earth wire connected to a high-tension electric line. He was thrown off by the shock and suffered severe burns, especially on his hands. Rajan died on the spot. Kathirur Police reached the spot and shifted the body to Thalassery Cooperative Hospital. He is survived by his wife Sindhu and daughter Anuvarsha.
