KOZHIKODE: The BJP has come forward demanding the withdrawal of rapper Vedan's song from the syllabus. BJP syndicate member Dr A K Anuraj has filed a complaint with the vice chancellor demanding that the inclusion of Vedan's song in the Calicut University syllabus be cancelled. The complaint said Vedan, who uses drugs, has admitted that he is a bad role model for the coming generation.

The inclusion of Vedan's song in the syllabus is extremely bad. Vedan was arrested for possession of intoxicants. There are visuals of glasses filled with alcohol in Vedan's songs. The complaint also pointed that including Vedan's composition in the syllabus is an attempt to encourage students to follow the inimitable path he follows in life.

The song 'Bhoomi Vazhunnidam' by Vedan is included in the BA Malayalam fourth semester textbook of Calicut University. The syllabus includes a comparative study between the song 'They Don't Care About Us' by famous pop singer Michael Jackson and Vedan's song. The study is based on a comparison between American rap music and Malayalam rap music. The songs are included in the syllabus as two video links.
