KOCHI: The family of a college student of Kalady in Ernakulam, who was found dead in Periyar, has filed a police complaint demanding a detailed investigation. Although the police concluded it as a suicide, the family is demanding the girl's male friend’s involvement in the incident be investigated. The family also said that if the girl's mobile phone is found, the cause of death will be clearer.
The girl was found dead on April 20 at the Chengal railway overbridge in Kalady. The body of Anjana, a BA History student at St Peter's College, Kolanchery, was found. The police have concluded that the student committed suicide by jumping into the river. However, her mother Bindu said that her daughter was not in a situation to commit suicide. The family also suspects that her male friend was with her when she fell into the river. The family is also demanding to find her mobile phone.
Some of her friends informed the family that Anjana had said in the days before her death that she could not continue the relationship with her boyfriend. Some of the locals also told the family that they saw a man running away from the bridge when Anjana fell into the river. The family has filed a complaint based on all this. The police said that they are investigating all aspects of the incident.
