THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP's state core committee has been reorganised with 24 members, including two special invitees. The new committee includes state office bearers and former state presidents. Prakash Javadekar and Aparajita Sarangi, who are in charge of the state, have been made special invitees.
Former core committee member A.N. Radhakrishnan has been excluded. Former state presidents K.V. Sreedharan Master, who is currently resting due to health issues, and P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, who served as the Governor of Goa, have also been left out.
The newly formed committee includes BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar along with several senior leaders and former state presidents such as C.K. Padmanabhan, K. Surendran, Kummanam Rajasekharan, V. Muraleedharan, and P.K. Krishnadas. Also part of the team are National Vice President A.P. Abdullakutty and National Spokesperson Anil Antony. Rajya Sabha MP C. Sadanandan Master and Union Ministers George Kurian and Suresh Gopi have also been included. The list further features State Vice Presidents P. Sudheer, K.K. Aneesh Kumar, Shaun George, C. Krishnakumar, B. Gopalakrishnan, K. Soman, and Unnikrishnan Master.
The General Secretaries in the core committee are M.T. Ramesh, Sobha Surendran, S. Suresh, and Anoop Antony.
According to the party's constitution, only the State Committee and the Executive Committee—which consists solely of state office bearers—are authorised to make official decisions. However, the core committee was previously formed as a group of experienced leaders, including former state presidents, to offer guidance. This committee originally had a maximum of 11 members.
Following internal complaints during the last time, General Secretaries Sobha Surendran and A.N. Radhakrishnan were added to the committee. Now, with the expansion of the core committee, there are concerns within the party that its functionality and efficiency have decreased. The day-to-day affairs of the party are currently managed by a smaller committee consisting of the four General Secretaries and the State President.
