SHARJAH: Shailaja, mother of Vipanchika of Kollam, who committed suicide at her flat in Al Nahda, has reached Sharjah. She arrived in Sharjah Tuesday early morning along with her relative. She will request the authorities to take the bodies of her daughter and grandchild home. Vipanchika's brother Vinod, who is in Canada will arrive in Sharjah tonight. Vipanchika's family is also planning to file a complaint against her husband Nidheesh in Sharjah. The relatives will also talk to the authorities of the Indian Consulate.

Meantime, the Kundara police have registered a case against Nidheesh and his family. Sections such as abetment to suicide and dowry harassment have been filed on her mother’s complaint. The case has named her husband Nidheesh, sister-in-law Neethu, and their father Mohanan as the first, second and third accused. The police registered the FIR after recording Shailaja's statement.

Vipanchika (33) and her daughter Vaibhavi were found hanging last Tuesday at her flat in Sharjah. Vipanchika, an MBA graduate, was HR manager in a private company in Sharjah. Vipanchika married Nidheesh of Kottayam in November 2020. After marriage, she was staying with her husband and relatives in Sharjah. Vipanchika had mentioned in her six-page suicide note that she was subjected to severe torture and humiliation since day one.

Vipanchika's family wants the crime committed in Sharjah to be investigated here. The family members expressed their lack of confidence in the tests in Sharjah and said they would try to conduct a second postmortem on the bodies brought back to the country. The complaint also alleged that the Facebook post shared by Vipanchika against her in-laws has mysteriously disappeared. The family demanded an investigation on her phone and laptop which had gone missing after her death.
