Bride sustains serious injuries in accident, groom ties ‘thali’ in hospital

ALAPPUZHA: In an emotionally inspiring and deeply unusual event, a wedding within the walls of a hospital in Kochi, has touched hearts and drawn admiration across social media platforms. Although a car accident ruined their dreams, it could not dampen their love. The groom tied the nuptial knot (thali) around her neck in the presence of their dear ones in the hospital. Sharon and Avani of Thumpoly got married despite the fear of the accident.

The muhurtham of the marriage was scheduled between 12.12 pm and 12.25 pm at the Shakti Auditorium in Alappuzha today. However, Avani’s car met with an accident when she was returning from the beauty parlour. Seriously injured Avani was first taken to Kottayam Medical College and later to VPS Lakeshore Hospital in Kochi. The families decided to conduct the thalikettu in the hospital after doctors informed that there were no major health issues.

The marriage sadya was served in the hospital at the same time the two got married in the hospital. Avani suffered spine and leg injuries. She will undergo a spinal surgery tomorrow. Three others who accompanied Avani were also injured. They have been admitted at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital.
