KALADY: Chitrapriya's mother, Shini, and father, Shyju, had prepared a saree for her to participate in the Thalapoli procession for an event organised by the Ayyappa Seva Sangh in Mundangamattom. Chitra failed to arrive for the Thalapoli, which was to begin at 7.30 pm. The parents tried to contact her, but to no avail. The parents attended the event and returned home, but a shiver went through their bodies knowing that Chitra didn’t make it back, even then. It was only when the body was found three days later that the parents realised that their beloved daughter had skipped the event to walk towards death.
Chitra was academically brilliant and also an avid participant in extracurricular activities and sports. She had great zeal for volleyball, badminton and basketball. Chitra studied at the SNDP School, Neeleeswaram, till the 10th standard. Due to her interest in basketball, she moved to St. Peter's, Kolenchery, for Plus One. Chitra later went to Bengaluru after getting admission for the much-coveted aviation course.
Chitrapriya's father, Shyju, had called Alan on Saturday night, worried that his daughter was missing. Chitrapriya's parents were aware of the relationship between the two. Alan said that they had met last at 7:30 that night and had ended their relationship.
Beer bottles were found in the rubber plantation. It is reported that Alan attacked Chitrapriya while in an intoxicated state. He had hit her with a stone multiple times, causing serious injuries to the back of her head.
