KANNUR: A case of high-tech cheating was reported in the PSC Secretariat Assistant Main exam held today. Police chased and arrested MP Muhammad Sahad (25) of Surur Nivas, Peralassery, Mundalur, Kannur, who initially tried to escape despite being stopped by the vigilance.

The incident took place at Payyambalam Government Vocational Higher Secondary School. A camera was hidden on the collar of his shirt, and a headset was attached to his ear in a way not easily noticeable. The plan was to send the images of the questions through the camera and transcribe the answer through the headset. The camera, pen drive and headset were taken into custody.

The exam was held from 10.30 am to 11.50 am and later from 1.30 pm to 3.50 pm. Based on a tip-off, the Thiruvananthapuram unit officials of the PSC Vigilance arrived at the exam hall this morning. The vigilance came near Sahad as soon as the exam started.

During interrogation, he admitted to having cheated on exams in the same manner before. As per reports, Sahad had cheated in the PSC conducted police sub-inspector exam held last month. Police are now moving ahead to arrest those who helped the youth from outside.

PSC officials said that the accused will be disqualified from the exams he has written so far, and his answer sheets will be scrutinised. He may also be banned from writing PSC exams for ten years. The accused was handed over to the Kannur Town Police by the Vigilance Thiruvananthapuram Unit.
