LUCKNOW: Unable to bear the pressure associated with the NEET exam, a 21-year-old shot his father and dismembered the body in a grotesque murder that shocked the nation. The incident took place in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Manvendra Singh (49), a pharmaceutical and liquor businessman, was killed in the incident. Police arrested Manvendra’s son, Akshat Singh. The story unfolded when the police went to the house to investigate a missing person complaint. The police questioned Akshat after finding body parts in a barrel at the house. During grilling, Akshat confessed to killing his father, dismembering him and dumping his remains in various places.
Manvendra wanted Akshat to become a doctor and clear NEET. He forced Akshat to attend the exams. Arguments between the two were often, as Akshat, who had completed B.Com, was apprehensive about pursuing a career in medical science. On Friday, the two argued over the same topic. Akshat then opened fire on Manvendra. He then took the body from the third floor to the room on the ground floor and dismembered it. Akshat scared his sister as she barged into the room unknowingly. The body parts were wrapped in plastic. Some parts were left in various places.
Akshat was influenced by the incident in Uttar Pradesh last year in Meerut, where Muskan Rastogi, along with his lover, killed her husband, dismembered his body and stuffed it in a barrel. The barrel was also filled with cement to prevent foul smell. It is said that Akshat forcefully snatched away the licensed gun from his father and opened fire.
