KOZHIKODE: The accused came with a planned plot in the incident where a doctor was hacked, said superintendent Gopalakrishnan of Thamarassery Taluk Hospital. He said that he suspects the involvement of more people behind Sanoop, who attacked the doctor, and whether a financial transaction had taken place.
‘Don’t know why the child's death certificate was not received. Had intervened in the issue. The problem was resolved when Sanoop came earlier. There was no delay on the child's treatment. The treatment was sought from the General OP. When the doctor was hacked, a group lit flower pots (poothiri) outside and celebrated. A comprehensive investigation is needed on the issue.
After discussing and resolving the issue on the child's death, a group had planted a banana sapling in the hospital. An organization leader threatened. It is suspected that there are more people in yesterday's incident. There is also a suspicion on some financial dealings,' said Gopalakrishnan.
Dr P T Vipin (35), casualty medical officer and assistant surgeon of Thamarassery Taluk Hospital, was fatally hacked on his head yesterday afternoon at 1.45 pm. Nine-year-old girl Anaya, daughter of Sanoop, had died of brain eating infection. Sanoop believed that she died due to medical negligence and so hacked the doctor. Dr Vipin had not treated the girl.
Snoop came with a machete hidden in his bag to attack the superintendent. The superintendent was in a meeting. Dr Vipin came out from the meeting to examine a patient's lab report. He went to the superintendent's office to get the lab report and checked it. He hacked the doctor with the machete when he was talking to his patients. He sustained injuries on his head. The doctor himself stopped the assailant. The others rushed and overpowered him.
