THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery tickets are in high demand this time too. People started buying the ticket offering the biggest prize in the Kerala state lottery within hours after its release. The lottery, offering a first prize of Rs 25 crore was launched a few days ago. Official figures say that out of the 20 lakh tickets that went on sale in the first phase, about 13 lakh tickets have already been sold till Monday afternoon.
This year's Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery is offering a new prize structure by giving 20 people a second prize of Rs 1 crore each, 20 people a third prize of Rs 50 lakh each, 10 people a fourth prize of Rs 5 lakh each, and 10 people a fifth prize of Rs 2 lakh each. The Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery, which costs Rs 500 for a ticket, has prizes ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 500 also. This year's draw will be held on September 27.
Most lottery shops in the state are seeing a surge in demand for Thiruvonam bumper tickets.
