NEW DELHI: Union Minister V Muraleedharan has expressed support for Pala Bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangatt over the controversial narcotics jihad reference. While alleging that both the Chief Minister and the Opposition Leader were the spokespersons of the jihadists, Muraleedharan added that he will inquire if the central government had any knowledge of the narcotic jihad.

"People who tell unpleasant truths are being surrounded and attacked. Those who support jihadists should understand that the period when Prof. Joseph's hand was chopped off has come to an end," Muraleedharan said. The Union Minister was responding to allegations by the Opposition Leader that the narcotics jihad was a Sangh Parivar agenda.

Meanwhile, the Deepika daily came out in full support of the bishop. The bishop was given strong support in the editorial of the newspaper published on Saturday.
