ALAPPUZHA: Police have instructed shops on the beach to close as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is coming to inaugurate the KPMS state conference. The police have strictly instructed that bajji stalls, small hotels and thattu kadas should stay closed. The police issued notices to all shop owners in this regard yesterday evening.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will arrive at the beach at 5.30 pm today to inaugurate the conference. Since a large crowd is expected to arrive at the beach area, the instructions are that the shops should be completely closed keeping in mind public safety. This is made clear in the notice issued by the South Station House Officer.

'110 shops are operating on the beach. Big leaders have visited the beach before this too. It was not asked to close the shops then,' said South Block Congress President CV Manoj Kumar.
